Outreach activities
"Science is closer to us" than we might expect. Under this motto, the LHCb-Ro group aims to increase the awareness of the need to develop an adequate scientific education within the Romanian society.
In the digital age the easy access to the high-tech tools, tends to hide and obscure the progress made in the technological development and understanding of the relevant physics phenomena on which these tools were created in the first place. As consequence the weight is shifted on the social and economical challenges implied by their usage in every day life situations. We believe that even for the latter, i.e. social and economical problems, our society benefits directly from the progress achieved in various fields of physics analyses like: statistical methods, pattern recognition, large database management, neural networks, multivariate analyses, etc.. Though these problems are defined within the high energy physics domain, they could be easily extrapolated to offer new insights into social or economic trends and problems.
The members of the LHCb-Ro group participates in presenting the field of particle physics in debates, seminars on some of the most interesting subjects of the modern physics, such as the nature of the elementary constituents of matter, of fundamental forces, the relation between matter and antimatter, the role of symmetry in developing scientific explanations, etc..

"Open Days at IFIN-HH", 6th - 10th April 2015 in the frame of the "Să ştii mai multe, să fii mai bun!" programme(in Romanian) of Romanian Ministry of National Education.
"Open Days at IFIN-HH" is also part of the ad-hoc yearly initiative of the institutes from The Magurele Physics Platform to open their doors to the wide public and especially to students in schools and high schools. Students and their teachers are offered the opportunity to visit the Platform’s research institutes (and the nearby Faculty of Physics, University of Bucharest) and to learn about science and the scientifical activity at these sites from researchers using interactive methods, presentations and guided tours.
